This year for celebrating Earth Day the weather in Sacramento was perfect! Low 70's, sunny with some clouds made for the best possible conditions to venture out to the world of first blooms, walks in the park and uplifting celebrations of Mother Earth. These images include some shots of my mother, as I cruised her around the International World Peace Rose Gardens at the State Capitol. The next day we took out our grand-dog Penny to William Land Regional Park and was rewarded by lots of momma ducks and their ducklings, both the human and feathered varieties! Finally, on Sunday we headed over to Southside Park to catch the local Earth Day celebration. We tried some vegan pizza (so-so), caramel corn and strawberry lemonade (yum) and enjoyed the many vendors and live music. Include are some shots of the Fenix Drum and Dance Company. What great energy! A samba line greeted us on our way out, and we reflected on how lucky we are to live in a city with such a bounty of natural spaces, from our city parks to our river parkways. As the self-proclaimed "farm to fork," capital, we've also got a growing number of folks who really seem to importance of taking care of our planet and enjoying its bounty in a way that is equitable, balanced and sustainable.
