This summer we spent some time in the Bellingham and Lake Whatcom area.  Far removed from the hustle and endless bustle of Seattle, Lake Whatcom is a quiet resort area on a pristine lake that was perfect for kayaking and enjoying sunsets.  Lake Whatcom, which is the Lummi word for "loud water," is the drinking source for the residents of Bellingham, as well as being a popular area for motor boating, swimming, fishing, and other recreational activities.  While we there for some much needed rest and relaxation, I couldn't resist the chance to pick up my camera a few times for some sunset and sunrise images, as well as a few shots at nearby Lake Whatcom Falls, and the beautiful Big Rock Garden, which includes a wonderful collection of sculptures by local and regional artists.  We stayed at the very charming La Petite Maison du Lac, and hope to get out there again some day for another wonderful week.  Enjoy!
