I was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1966, in the Women's College Hospital. In my 52 years of life, I have had never seen the hospital. I had been through the city a few times visiting my biological family, but had never found or made the time to seek out this (as I discovered) venerated institution. It was moving to learn a little bit about the history of this important institution, and to see this beautiful campus.
Beyond the hospital, we spent the day exploring downtown on foot and on the wonderful public transit system. We saw Yonge-Dundas Square (the Times Square of the city), Union Station, the Royal York Hotel, the Ontario Art Museum, Chinatown, and then further out to Humber Bay, which had great waterfront and skyline views. It was a jam-packed, but fun day and we hope to return to see more in the future.
