Last week I attended about 75 minutes of the Sacramento City Council Meeting. The public comment portion was dedicated solely to community members who wished to address the tragic March 18 police shooting of Stephon Clark, a 22-year-old black man who was unarmed and standing holding a cell phone in his grandmother’s backyard. Today I attended the March for Our Lives rally in Sacramento, one of hundred sister rallies to the Washington one. People of all ages and backgrounds marched and rallied, and these are a few images from today. As a public school teacher, I feel very strongly about students feeling safe in schools AND not having to carry a firearm to help ensure that same safety.
