Uplifting Auburn event honors Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy

Here are some images from Auburn’s 40th celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr’s birthday. The General Gomez Arts & Event Center organized the march and program in downtown Auburn at their arts center. The theme for the event was “Strategizing for Change.” It was a well-attended, uplifting event with over 100 people that began with rapper Unity Lewis leading a downtown march. SACRAMENTO, CA, U.S.A. – OCTOBER 9, 2021 On Saturday, October 9, 2021 Sacramento celebrated National Trans Visibility Day at Crocker Park. The first-ever event included a march around the park and a program with a variety of community leaders, activists and organizers. Why Sacramento? Happy 4th!

Here are some images from this year\’s 4th of July Parade and then one extra composite fireworks image.  I started up at the beginning of the event near Cherry Street, finding a little pocket of shade near some Auburn police volunteers.  The Auburn police honor guard, in full black wool uniforms (!) also came to share the shade, along with a few bystanders.
