Here are a few images from Brookings, Oregon from our trip last weekend. Capella by the Sea is a sweet, beautiful architectural gem in Azalea Park.
My in-camera multiple exposure tries to show the interplay between structure and nature that is such an integral part of the building.
I also included a selective focus cala lily in a nearby garden bed. The light is so soft and diffused with the rain, and I love the way the individual drops bead on the flowers. It is so delicate and tender.
Finally, I have another in-camera multiple-exposure from Chetco Point Park. I was really taken by all the driftwood on the beaches along the Southern Oregon coast and tried to capture the journey from standing trees, to washing into the local rivers and then onto the beach.
While in the area, we also enjoyed learning more about the history of the Native Americans in the area. They have lived in the Chetco River’s watershed for thousands of years, and there is an interesting interpretive exhibit in the harbort area, where we stayed. After the gold rush, the town of Brookings was founded in the early 20th century, named after lumber baron John E. Brookings.
This part of the state is such rugged, wild, beautiful country! I will definitely look forward to returning to Brookings, Oregon!
