Charming Bruges

As part of our fall 2019 Baltic Cruise, we had a day to explore charming Bruges. Medieval Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish region of Belgium. It is in the northwest of the county, and we docked at Zeebrugge. The port bus took us the quick trip to the train station. We didn’t have any luck at the ticket machine, but a quick trip inside to the counter at the little station took care of it for us. We were on the train within five minutes, and it is a quick 20 minute trip to Brugge.

Once at the station, we headed to the bus queue and caught a coach into the city center. So a little complicated to get in, but pretty easy to navigate. The center is completely walkable, full of quaint lace, waffle and chocolate shops. The streets are cobblestoned, with huge city squares and beautiful canals, stone bridges and church steeples around every corner. It is easily one of the most lovely, romantic places I have ever been. We took a canal tour, which is a great way to see charming Bruges. The image was taken with my Nikon D750 camera and Nikon Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6g lens. Unfortunately, most of my other shots were just not sharp enough (the boat was bouncier than I thought). I love the convenience of the “walkabout” 28-300, but it just can’t match my primes or pro zooms.

I have a few shots for sale on Shutterstock, but my favorite is probably the one above, which I converted later to black and white. I wonder what this stylish fellow was so engrossed in, and… what was he drinking?
