These images were taken at the Floricanto Family Festival in Sacramento, California on Saturday, May 13, 2023. The event was organized by Casa de Español.
I was volunteering with Casa de Español at the Mexican Cultural Center of Northern California. Biggest photo challenge of the day was trying not to abandon the booth all day to catch some of the amazing dancers!
The event took place in the heart of the city on R Street, right next to Casa. I have taken several Spanish classes with the school. and they are a very important part of the local Latino community. This special event (a combination of the words for flower and singing) showcased a lovely array of performances, art displays, and tasty culinary delights.
Attendees were treated to a full program of rhythmic beats from all over Latin America. As you can see, there were several traditional dance groups, and witnessing their talents (especially the children) brought the crowd to life.
Throughout the festival area, artisanal craft vendors offered unique and vibrant creations that reflected the rich heritage and creativity of the Latin American community. The air was filled with the irresistible aroma of delectable Latin cuisine, tempting visitors to savor authentic flavors and culinary delights. Community vendors explained their purpose to curious attendees and invited others to participate.
The Festival was more than just an event; it was a celebration of unity, diversity, and the unifying power of culture. It brought people together, fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the Latin American heritage in the Sacramento region.

Estas imágenes fueron tomadas en el Floricanto Family Festival en Sacramento, California el sábado 13 de mayo de 2023. El evento fue organizado por Casa de Español.
Fui voluntario con Casa de Español en el Centro Cultural Mexicano del Norte de California. ¡El desafío fotográfico más grande del día fue tratar de no abandonar el stand en todo el día para atrapar a algunos de los increíbles bailarines!
El evento se llevó a cabo en el corazón de la ciudad en la calle R, justo al lado de Casa. He tomado varias clases de español con la escuela. y son una parte muy importante de la comunidad latina local. Este evento especial (una combinación de las palabras flor y canto) mostró una hermosa variedad de actuaciones, exhibiciones de arte y delicias culinarias.
Los asistentes disfrutaron de un programa completo de ritmos rítmicos de toda América Latina. Como puede ver, hubo varios grupos de danza tradicional, y presenciar sus talentos (especialmente los niños) hizo que la multitud cobrara vida.
En todo la zona del festival, los vendedores de artesanías ofrecieron creaciones únicas y vibrantes que reflejaban la rica herencia y creatividad de la comunidad latinoamericana. El aire se llenó del aroma irresistible de la deliciosa cocina latina, tentando a los visitantes a saborear sabores auténticos y delicias culinarias. Los vendedores comunitarios explicaron su propósito a los asistentes curiosos e invitaron a otros a participar.
El Festival fue más que un evento; fue una celebración de la unidad, la diversidad y el poder unificador de la cultura. Reunió a la gente, fomentando un sentido de orgullo y aprecio por la herencia latinoamericana en la región de Sacrament📷
